自由村是阳春市春湾镇下辖的行政村，村辖的高村有一处新石器时代遗址，即高村牛窿洞穴化石地点[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1836年（清道光十六年）这里有欧村。1901年（光绪二十七年），高姓家族迁来定居，人口逐渐增多，此处于是改名高村[1]。1951年设自由乡，1958年改为大队，之后经历乡政府、村委会和管理区等建制。1999年，自由村委会正式成立，沿用至今[1]。

文物与荣誉[edit]

位于高村的高村牛窿洞穴化石地点，属新石器时代遗址，2021年8月列入阳春市第二批县级文物保护单位[2]。

2023年5月，省爱卫会为自由村颁发「2022年广东省卫生村」称号[1]。2023年11月，自由村入选广东省首批「百千万工程」典型县镇村[1]。2024年1月，自由村获评2023年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」[1]。2024年4月，自由村列为乡村振兴示范村创建对象，批次为广东省第一批[1]。
