村名的由来，据博雅地名网：民间传说长山岭像一条石龙，村落位于山脉中段即龙腰之处，取驱赶石龙之意，故名。[2]

2026年3月，驹龙村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
