村名取自辖区内的同名自然村。[1] 1953年以后，该村先后隶属金龙乡、塘围乡，1958年后设生产大队；2014年9月9日，它划归城北街道管辖。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1953年12月，金郊村属七区金龙乡；1956年12月改属塘围区塘围乡。1958年11月设金郊管理区，隶属红旗人民公社；1959年改属塘坪人民公社，同年撤管理区而设金郊生产大队。[2]
1967年改设革委会，1970年复为管委会；1983年设金郊乡，属岗列区；1987年改为村委会，后又改为管理区；1999年5月4日复设村委会。此后，该村自2014年9月9日起归城北街道管辖。[2]

该村曾三次进入「淘宝村」名单，分别在2020年、2021年和2022年公布。[1]
