南湖村是热水镇下辖的行政村，村名来自村口一处温泉。[1]

村内有热龙温泉度假村，该度假村2006年12月开业。1999年设立南湖村村民委员会，沿用至今。[1][2][3]

2019年9月，南湖村获评广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会把「2022年广东省卫生村」称号授予南湖村。2026年1月，南湖村获评广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村。2021年5月，农业农村部推荐南湖村入选「2023年中国美丽休闲乡村」。2019年9月，南湖村被认定为首批「广东省文化和旅游特色村」。[1]

「张觉青烈士纪念亭」在石圳镜新书舍。张觉青生于1906年，原名张锦钟，籍贯和平县阳明镇，1938年6月入党。1945年12月，他在途经下径村送情报时被捕，同月30日遇害。[2]
