旧时这里多樟树，地势平坦，人们称之为樟树乡；樟树与壮士读音相近，村名因此定为壮士。[1]

1992年，壮士村被认定为革命老区，土地革命、抗日战争和解放战争时期这里都有革命活动。[2]

据百度百科，村庄当前推进“红色村”建设，修缮革命遗址，打造红色传统教育基地。[2]

据2024年工作总结，驻镇帮扶渠道帮助销售壮士村的圆宝腐竹，镇里统计的相关农副产品合计增收30万元。[3]
