东竹村位于广东省汕尾市陆丰市桥冲镇东南端，离镇政府约10千米，东南面与碣石镇接壤。村子由东坑、竹秋埔、松竹寮三个自然村组成，设五个村民小组，博雅地名网所载总人口5339人。[1]

碣博河公路贯穿全境，村内有观音山，村中的“人大代表林”是近年新建的公共绿地。[1][2]

地理与产业[edit]

村域为丘陵地带，山多地少，以农业为主，种植水稻、花生、芝麻、番薯、萝卜，养殖以牛、猪为主。[1]

观音山[edit]

观音山位于东竹、溪碧两村的东南面，碣博河公路的西侧，西面濒临碣石港。主峰海拔640米，峰顶的巨石轮廓似观音坐于莲台，山名由此而来。周边有虎陂水库和响水水库。[1]

人大代表林[edit]

2023年5月起，陆丰市人大代表在村中一处荒废的山坡上种树，共种植2010株树苗，建成近20亩的“人大代表林”，后又配建凉亭、长廊。[2]

这里曾是五乡农会的活动地点。五乡包括过路溪、东坑、松竹寮、溪碧与文厝。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

土改后，此地是博美区溪碧乡的一部分。1958年，东竹从溪碧大队析出，另设东竹大队，属博美公社，1973年转归桥冲公社。[1]

1983年设东竹乡，隶属桥冲区；1987年成为东竹村委会，归桥冲乡管；1994年转为管理区，归桥冲镇；1999年恢复为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2023年5月，东竹村被评为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]
