元新社区位于广东省汕尾市陆丰市南塘镇的镇区，博雅地名网把它归入“镇中心区”一类[1]。元新社区前身是南塘社区居委会辖下的新一村，2012年从该居委会分出，改设为独立的居民委员会[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

南塘镇镇区原先只设一个南塘社区居委会，下分一村、二村、三村、四村、五村和新一村。2012年起，这些村分别立为居民委员会，南塘镇如今的五个社区由此而来：元兴、新墟、南兴、新兴、元新[2]。元新社区即其中之一，名称沿用至今[1]。
