麦湖村在河口镇东部的南溪河边，东邻剑门村，北与普宁相接，南与陆丰市八万镇交界，是革命老区村。全村面积16.9平方千米，约占河口镇总面积的十分之一，是全镇人口最多的行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

麦湖乡于解放后设立；1958年到1983年，它叫麦湖大队。1984年3月起，大队体制取消，改由乡政府管理；此后村一级的称呼依次是村委会（1986年）、管理区办事处（1990年）、村民委员会（1999年）。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

全村人口近6000人，下设19个村民小组。收入主要来自种粮，也种青梅、黄榄、油柑等水果，另有不少村民去广州经营士多店。[1] 村内的麦湖小学占地5000平方米，在校学生五百多人。[1]
