砂坑村在陆河县河田镇南部，是进县城的南大门，陆伍公路和县城环东公路都从村中通过。[1][2] 村民分布在上埔尾、下埔尾、眉坑、下径4个自然村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1974年以前，这里属河南大队，到1975年才另立沙坑大队。后来河南、沙坑、溪东三个大队并成河南乡，乡政府在1984年3月取代了生产大队。此后名称依次是：沙坑村委会（1986年）、沙坑管理区（1990年）、砂坑村民委员会（1999年，写法改“沙”为“砂”）。[1]

地理与人口[edit]

村辖区2.5平方千米，山地6584亩，林地4900亩，耕地986亩；4个村民小组划成5个网格，户籍642户（3983人），常住5830人。[2] 另有资料记全村总人口3040人。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月，砂坑村入选「广东省卫生村」名录；同年9月又名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
