地名由来[edit]

村在化州城外围的左下方，旧称“下廓村”，后因“廓”与“郭”相通，写作“下郭村”，街道名称即由此而来[2]。

经济[edit]

村里借靠近市区之便发展第三产业，设有水果、三鸟、水产、百货、农贸五个专业批发市场，以及下郭宾馆、下郭度假村等旅业设施；博雅地名网记载上一年（年份未注）全村农村经济总收入3350万元，务工经商是特色收入[1]。

2005年10月，村名见于第一届全国文明村镇名单；2024年1月，被确定为「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」；2026年1月，评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村[1]。早年的街道概况称它“以‘粤西第一村’而著称”[3]。

名胜古迹[edit]

余行成夫妇墓在村委会辖区的上店大岭，为元代古墓葬，是化州市第四批县级文物保护单位[4]。
