塘迳村在林头镇的东南部。邻近的村有新圩村、亭梓村、文车村、木院村、赤岭村、秧前村、那关村、参桥村、林南村、下寮村、林头村、龙记村、乌坭村、大群村。[1]

1962年，成立，名为塘迳生产大队；1983年改称塘迳乡；1987年改称塘迳村委会；1989年改称塘迳管理区；1999年改称塘迳村委会，此后名称沿用至今。[1]
