禾塘坡村在林头镇的东北部。邻近的村有亭梓村、新屋村、木院村、黄阳村、秧前村、北诏村、参桥村、大器村、槟榔村、大坡村、板桥村、尖角山村、大群村、大衙村。[1]

1953年时称禾塘坡乡；1958年改称禾塘坡生产大队；1983年改称禾塘乡；1987年改称禾塘坡村委会；1989年改称禾塘坡管理区；1999年改称禾塘坡村委会，此后名称沿用至今。[1]
