官渡街道属茂名市茂南区，在茂名市区东北角，以小东江为西界，东面到西粤路，南面到油城路，面积10.2平方千米[1]。1987年设立，现辖19个社区[1]。第七次全国人口普查时人口约15.42万，居茂南区各街道乡镇之首[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

辖区本属新坡镇和高山镇管辖。茂名市于1987年设立官渡街道[1][2]。街道名称沿袭官渡村：相传谭氏先人在明末清初迁居官渡村，其孙做了县官，把一条渡船捐出来供村民免费过小东江，村名因此而来[2]。

街道办事处原为20世纪80年代中期随茂名市区东扩而成立，当时辖区北以大园路为界，面积约10平方千米，约占市区建成区的四分之一[3]。

地理环境[edit]

街道位于茂名市区的东北角，西面隔小东江与河西片区相望[1][5]。辖区内油城路、官山路、官渡路、大园路东西贯通，人民路、光华路、文明路、高凉路、西粤路南北相连，街区被划成大大小小的住宅区[3]。

横跨小东江的官渡桥建成于1971年，1991年拓宽，桥长177米、宽30米，连接河东与河西两片，为茂名中心城区小东江八座主要桥梁中的一座[5]。桥北、桥南两个社区即以此桥得名[2]。

人口民族[edit]

2011年末常住人口为140734人[1]；2020年的第七次人口普查统计约15.42万人，在茂南区各街道乡镇中排第一[2]。

经济[edit]

2011年辖区生产总值为25.3亿元，增速12.3%；当年有金融机构及其营业所125家[1]。街道的主要功能是商住办公，辖区内设有10多家星级宾馆，以及福华、官渡、官山、中区几处大型农贸市场[3]。

文化[edit]

辖区是茂名学院等高校所在地，街道介绍中提到辖区有11所中小学和20多所幼儿园[3]。广东石油化工学院（前身为茂名学院）的官渡校区在官渡二路139号[6]。

新湖公园位于人民北路，1987年建成开放，占地22.26公顷，园内有儿童乐园、水上乐园和游艇码头，园内另有湖区、两岛和园中园“探胜”[4]。街道内另有桥北公园、河堤公园、中心广场、福华广场等休闲场所[3]。

街道下辖的社区多以居委会驻地的村名、桥名或片区名为名，如官渡社区得名于官渡村，桥北社区与桥南社区得名于官渡桥，沿江社区得名于临小东江，校园社区得名于毗邻广东石油化工学院[2]。街道办事处的介绍称其辖15个社区居委会和4个社区服务站[3]。
