雷高镇在广东省湛江市雷州市的东南部，东邻东里镇，南邻调风镇，西接南兴镇，北面临海。[1]镇政府设在雷高圩，镇名即由此而来；雷州市区在其西北，相距约16千米。[1][2]全镇辖2个社区、21个行政村[4]，2020年第七次全国人口普查时常住人口35080人。[1]1987年4月撤区设镇。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

中华人民共和国成立初期，这片地方归海康县第十区管辖。1957年设雷高乡，次年划入先锋公社；1961年改属调风区，1966年先隶东风公社、后隶调风公社；1979年从调风分出，另立雷高公社。[1][2]1984年3月改称雷高区，1987年4月撤区设镇。[1][2]

镇名取自镇人民政府驻地雷高圩。[2]雷高圩设于1942年；1950年代末它与雷高村合编为雷高大队，1980年代又先后改为乡、村民委员会和居民管理区，1999年成立雷高糖厂社区居民委员会。[3]

地理环境[edit]

雷高镇濒临大海，位于南渡河下游。[2]百度百科记其行政区域面积为165.03平方千米；博雅地名网所载较早的数据为143.53平方千米，其中耕地6.7万亩，并称全镇有68个自然村。[1][2]两处数字不一致，以前者为新。气候属热带季风气候。[1]

人口民族[edit]

第七次全国人口普查（2020年11月1日零时）统计，雷高镇常住人口35080人，在雷州市各街道、乡镇中位居第21，辖区面积则居第10。[1][2]博雅地名网另载有较早的数据，称全镇人口39172人，当时有21个管理区。[2]

经济[edit]

农业以水稻、甘蔗为主，兼种香茅、菠萝、花生、香蕉和茶叶。[2]据博雅地名网所载，镇内香茅油加工厂较多，年产44吨以上；岩石资源丰富，日产石料1500多立方米，供雷州城区和邻近乡镇建筑用石；沿海居民从事海洋捕捞，1987年起开发1万亩虾塘养殖对虾，年产值2000多万元；境内的雷高糖厂日榨甘蔗2400吨。[2]这些数字未标明年份，应是20世纪末的情况。

2019年全镇工业企业共6个，规模以上的有2个；另有8个营业面积超过50平方米的综合商店或超市。[1]
