和寮镇是广东省湛江市廉江市北部的山区镇，东面是石角镇，东南是河唇镇，西面是塘蓬镇，北面与广西壮族自治区博白县交界[1]。镇政府设在和寮圩，辖1个社区居委会和15个村委会，被称为革命老区和库区移民镇[1][3]。

历史沿革[edit]

和寮圩在清代形成，据说起初摊铺都用禾草搭成寮棚，圩边另有一口鱼塘，因而叫作禾寮塘，后来改写为现名[2]。另据各村社区地名由来一文，圩成于清嘉庆年间[4]。

新中国成立之初，辖地先后分属第二区、第七区，1953年并入塘蓬区（第十二区）；1958年随跃进公社，1959年归塘蓬公社；自1961年3月起另立和寮人民公社，此后的区、乡、镇三级建制依次为：区（1983年11月）、乡（1987年3月）、镇（1988年6月）[2]。

地理环境[edit]

镇内多山丘陵，云开大山的支脉自东北伸向西南，地势中部高、四周低，溪流呈放射状流向四方：向东、向北的汇入鹤地水库，向西南的是武陵水库的主要源头[3]。气候属亚热带季风气候，博雅地名网所载年均气温23摄氏度，年降雨量1600至1900毫米，4至9月为雨季[3]。土壤以红土为主，下层多为花岗岩，所列矿产有铁、铅、锌、铜、金、银、锰、瓷土、滑石、高岭土等[3]。

2018年户籍人口为58920人[1]；据第七次全国人口普查（2020年），常住人口为3.57万人，居廉江市各街道乡镇的第18位[2]。较早的一份概况称全镇共有人口约4.9万人、10458户，汉族占98%[3]。

百度百科引2018年的数字：生产总值7.12亿元，较上年增3.9%，其中农业产值4.2亿元、工业产值1.3亿元；财政一般预算收入328万元，农民人均纯收入每年5600元[1]。镇内的和寮水厂、和寮医院、二级公路廉和公路与和文公路等设施，在概况一文中均有介绍；那篇文章写成时的数字是2007年生产总值12815万元[3]。

荣誉[edit]

2019年11月，和寮镇获认定为「广东省森林小镇」；2022年9月获认定为「2022年湛江市文明镇」；2024年3月获命名「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」[2]。
