西街社区是广东省湛江市廉江市罗州街道辖下的社区，因靠近西街得名，辖区内有廉江中学、廉江市博物馆、市人民医院等单位[2][3]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地在1950年设西街乡，划在廉江县第一区；之后几经改称：1958年为西街大队（红旗公社），1983年又作西街乡，1986年成西街居委会，1989年叫管理区，1999年起是现在的社区居委会。2004年5月，社区随廉城镇改街道而归罗州街道[1]。简介记居委会组建于1954年6月，同年建立社区党支部[2]。

地理与社会[edit]

辖区以廉江中学为东界，以西街尾为西界，南到人民大道，北到县背岭南侧。其中有廉江中学、市进修学校、市卫校、市第一小学、市人民医院、市中医院、市博物馆、市福利院和多个市直部门，连同商业网点共158家；居民7140户、总人口20054人（简介未注明年份）[2]。2019年9月，西街社区入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。
