南街社区是广东省湛江市廉江市罗州街道辖下的社区，位于街道办事处的南面，以靠近南街得名[2][3]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地在1950年设南街乡，划在廉江县第二区；之后几经改称：1958年为南街大队（红旗人民公社），1983年又作南街乡，1986年成南街居委会，1989年叫管理区，1999年起是现在的社区居委会。2004年5月，社区随廉城镇改街道而归罗州街道[1]。社区简介记居委会成立于1963年3月[2]。

地理与社会[edit]

辖区面积约1.8平方公里，东界五一路凤凰街，南临廉江河，西到人民大道西路的人民公园，北靠西街桥联和烟糖公司宿舍[2]。简介称社区常住人口12068人、4507户（均未注明年份），辖区有市武装部、市检察院、市人民法院、市第三小学、中心市场、人民公园、市文化广场等十余个单位，个体工商户1120多户，形成日杂副食品批发零售街[2]。2019年9月，南街社区入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。
