文东社区是湛江市赤坎区中山街道下辖的社区，2002年7月1日成立，辖区属赤坎城区的商业中心地带，面积约2平方千米[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

文东原是1980年设立的大队，1983年改乡，1986年改居委会，1989年改管理区，2002年复为居委会[1]。名称取自穿过辖区的文东路[1]。

地理环境与设施[edit]

社区常住2290户、8183人，居委会在文东路98号，工作人员8名[2]。社区离市政府不远，中山路和跃进路穿过其中；辖区内的学校有市十九小和湛江市女子中专学校，还有赤坎体育场这座大型综合运动场[2]。

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，文东社区入选「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单[1]。社区的介绍还列有「广东省文明社区」「广东省六好平安和谐社区」「广东省城市体育先进社区」等称号[2]。
