新会经济开发区全称广东江门新会经济开发区，在广东省江门市新会区境内的银洲湖畔，属省级开发区，1991年5月由广东省政府批准成立，借新会港发展水陆联运。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1991年5月，广东省政府批准设立这个开发区。[1] 主管机构为开发区管理委员会，旧称今古洲经济开发试验区的管理委员会，当地因此也有今古洲之名。[1] 开发区在2002年被认定为广东省的首个省级民营科技园，2004年列入科技部重点联系的民营科技园，2005年获全国先进民营科技园区称号。[1]

地理环境[edit]

开发区在银洲湖畔，到广州约110千米，到珠海约80千米。[1] 规划面积7.05平方千米，已开发5.95平方千米；东界为主排河，南界今华路，西面抵三和大道与会城河，北面到十字路围一带。[1]

经济[edit]

区内以电子、机械、纺织为主导产业。[1] 新会港的货运港设在区内，该港属国家一类口岸；百度百科记有5000吨级泊位2个，另有2个万吨级泊位在建。[1] 新会区政府在2023年度工作的总结报告里写到，要把新会经济开发区作为主体，申请升格为国家级经济开发区，同时扩大产业园的容量。[2]
