社区位于杏花村，又有杏花路经过，因而得名。[1]它原属升平区新华街道；2002年1月调整居委设置，由原杏花居委和护堤居委合并成杏花居委会，2003年3月起归金平区光华街道。[1]

东到梅溪，西到厦岭河上段和杏花街，南到杏花桥以西的梅溪下段，北到大窖将军桥，面积0.4平方千米，分5个居民小组。[1]
