社区名来自从居委会东侧经过的大学路。[1]居委会设于1994年，起初在升平区光华街道辖下，后来金平区成立（2003年3月），街道也改归金平区。[1]

地理环境[edit]

东到潮护路，西到潮汕路，南到金湖路，面积0.896平方千米，分5个居民小组，与明珠社区相邻。[1]
