大衙村位于汕头市龙湖区外砂街道的西北部，距街道驻地约4千米。韩江西溪在村旁分出外砂、新津、梅溪三条河，村像一片被水环绕的半岛。[1] 据地方志书的说法，它是外砂最早形成的村落，村名与宋末元初陈氏兄弟在此设衙的传说有关。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村子所在是海滨泥沙冲积而成的陆地，唐末宋初已有吴、望两姓在这里渔耕；宋末元初蓝、蔡两姓先后自福建迁来，村落成形。相传海阳人陈懿五兄弟（人称“陈五虎”）曾在此结寨，把驻地当作官署，百姓有事就近去陈府，村因此被叫作“大衙门”，简称大衙；另一说法是这里曾设盐税衙门。[1]
明嘉靖四十二年（1563年）属澄海县蓬洲都，民国属上蓬区，1946年后划入大东乡；1949年后归外砂公社（区），2003年起属龙湖区外砂镇，今属外砂街道。[1] 村里的古渡口现称大衙渡口，旧称大牙渡，位于古驿道沿线。[1]
人口姓氏[edit]
2015年末户籍人口7265人（男3653人，女3612人）。[1] 现在的主要姓氏为蔡、蓝、陈、李、方，蔡姓约占全村人口的80%：其先祖宋末由福建莆田迁到揭阳溪口，元代再迁大衙。蓝姓先祖宋末从福建漳浦迁来，先世为畲族。[1] 祖籍大衙的华人华侨约6500人，多在新加坡、马来西亚、泰国。[1]
经济[edit]
村民旧以渔耕和种菜为业，1960年起成为汕头市蔬菜生产基地；改革开放后转向工业，到2015年底，村里办有150多家工厂和近150个加工作坊，主要做电脑毛织。[1] 1987年2月，国务委员谷牧到汕头经济特区调研时，曾到村里的纺织厂视察。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村中传统民居现存400多座，其中“蓝氏大厝内”建于清代中后期，占地2500平方米，为“驷马拖车”格局；“骑尉第”建于清末，占地500平方米，是“四点金”格局。宗祠5座：蔡氏家庙创建于1583年（明万历十一年），门匾是清代大学士蔡新所书；蓝氏宗祠始建于明末，康熙末年重修。庙宇有上帝古庙、天后宫等，上帝古庙始建于明代，供奉玄天上帝。[1]
著名人物[edit]
蔡鸿生（1933年生）是大衙人，历史学者，曾任中山大学历史系教授；蓝少雄（1939年生）是中国船舶科学研究中心研究员。[1] 1993年，大衙被定为解放战争时期的革命游击根据地；2002年，又成为省级生态示范村。[1]
