历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网记载，北宋以前此地名龙堂。潘氏先祖自河南荥阳迁到南雄珠玑巷，宋元之际又先后迁至东莞太平、宝安靖康；南宋景定年间，潘仲鉴举家来到福永龙堂扎根，并把村名改为“怀德”，取意祖训“胸怀道德、礼仪至上”。[1]

社区2008年获评全省民主法治示范社区，2009年获评广东省文明社区，2010年获评全国综合减灾示范社区，2011年获评全国文明单位。[2]2020年12月列入「2020年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单，2024年4月进入「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单；2025年5月又进入「2025—2026年全国示范性老年友好型社区」创建名单。[1]
