横潭村是广州市花都区新华街道辖下的行政村，位于花都中南部，由横潭和河西两个自然村组成，村域约1.021平方千米，设6个经济合作社。村名的来历是新街河在村前横流而过，形成一处深潭。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明弘治二年（1489年）至弘治六年（1493年）前后，横潭曾是从化县的县衙所在；弘治六年起属番禺县的狮岭巡检司，清康熙二十五年（1686年）划归花县。[1][2]

1976年起，这里分为新华、横潭两个大队；横潭在1984年设管理区，1987年1月改设村委会。此后先后属新华区公所、新华镇人民政府，2005年起隶属新华街道办事处。[1]

人口[edit]

村情介绍（博雅地名网引述，未注明年份）称，全村941户，常住人口2761人，流动人口近万人。搜狐号文章称村中姓氏多达46个，在花都的村落里属于姓氏较杂的。[1][2]

经济[edit]

横潭村以物业出租为主要产业，出租的商铺和厂房近十万平方米。村域东起河西自然村，向西到花城路，南界湖滨路，北靠商业大道。[1]

文化[edit]

横潭圩是花县建县初期的九圩之一；「横潭夜月」为旧时花县八景之一。旧时村里祠堂和书院很多，如今只有朝宾龙公祠保存下来。[2]

著名人物[edit]

张耀东在大革命时期投身农民运动并参加多次战斗，「公益事件」后出任花县临时县委书记；龙定燎于1955年获中校军衔、1959年升上校，1979年起担任成都空军司令部顾问。[2]
