社区所在的地方原属白云农场梅花园种植区，故以梅花园为名；成立于2001年，名称沿用至今。[1]

2021年11月，该社区入选了广州市住建部门评定的「广州市2021年绿色社区」；2026年1月，获评「2025年广州市充分就业社区（村）」。[1]
