兴科社区在广州市天河区长兴街道境内，最初设立居委会时，辖区内主要有广州有色金属研究院和中国科学院化学研究所两家科研单位。[1]

名称与沿革[edit]

居委会设立时，辖区里主要是两家科研机构，一是广州有色金属研究院，一是中科院化学所；加上居委会归长兴街管理，名称寓意科研事业兴旺，于是叫兴科。[1] 街道在2003年重新划分地域设立8个社区时，兴科是新设的4个社区之一。[2]

它在2021年11月列入「广州市2021年绿色社区」，2024年11月入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」，2026年1月又获认定为「2025年广州市高质量充分就业街镇社区（村）」。[1]
