居委会设于1981年5月，1986年7月起属海珠区；电研院社区居委会于2005年4月并入。[1]
鹭江社区在2021年11月被市住建部门列入当年绿色社区名单；2024年11月，它又入选该年度广州市充分就业社区。[1]
