地名由来[edit]
村后山冈上有一大片草坪，昔日是牧童放牛的地方，故名牛埕下。[2]
行政区划与人口[edit]
村下辖7个自然村，主村在路头厝。村里有7个村民小组，全村202户，780人，少数民族750人，占96.1%。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年之初属白琳区翠郊乡，1957年设少数民族乡，1958年计划划归磻溪公社，1964年又归白琳，设为牛埕下大队；1987年10月设村民委员会，即今牛埕下村民委员会。[2]
土地与产业[edit]
全村土地面积8199亩，其中耕地919亩，林地3120亩，茶园1000亩。村民收入主要来自种茶和外出务工。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年3月，村被命名为「2021年福鼎市平安村（社区）」。[2]
