白琳镇在福鼎市中部，东南面与秦屿镇相邻，南面连着磻溪镇，西面是柘荣县，北面与点头镇相接。农业以茶叶为主，红茶白琳工夫是本地的传统产品。[2][3]
镇名的来历有一段传说：唐乾符年间，一位号白水仙者迁居于布满森林的丘陵之中，因称“白林”，后雅化为“白琳”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，1912年为白琳区，1940年称琳江镇，1949年改称白琳乡，1950年又为白琳区；1958年转为人民公社，1961年回到区的建制，1987年才成为镇。[1][2]
地理环境[edit]
地形以低山丘陵为主：东西两侧较高，中部较低，最高处约826米。百步溪、康山溪、翠郊溪流经境内，年均气温18.5℃，年降水量1500毫米。[2]
辖区面积，博雅地名网记为约124.4平方千米，百度百科记为131.2平方千米，两者均未注明测量年份。[1][2]

境内产玄武岩，石材加工是镇内的重要工业，金山工业园区集中了石材生产的各个环节。[2]
白琳工夫红茶创制于清光绪元年（1875年），清末民初曾由茶商销往欧美。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
洋里民居位于翠郊村，为清代建筑，列为福建省级文物保护单位（第六批）。[4][5]
三福寺双塔位于下炉村柘里自然村，为明永乐九年（1411年）所建的实心六角楼阁式砖塔，塔身高7.8米，同为福建省级文物保护单位（第六批）。[6][5]
