村名因才溪流经村中、明代在此筑有城堡而得名。村在1987年才改为村民委员会。2017年3月，村被列为第二批中国少数民族特色村寨。[1]

村的建制变迁始于1951年的设乡，此后经公社、大队阶段，1987年才转为村民委员会。[1]

2021年12月，村入选福建省高级版绿盈乡村第二批（乡镇）名单。[1]
