水岙村位于沙埕镇下片，别名水澳村。东接官城村，西接大白鹭村，北与小白鹭村相连，南临小澳湾，辖4个自然村。[1][2]

据博雅地名网，传说本村原为草房，为防大灾而取“水”字，又因住在海边澳头，故称水岙。[3]

关于人口，百度百科载户籍人口约1600人，博雅地名网载1500多人、400余户，两者年份均未注明。村中通行闽南语。[1][2]
