沙埕社区是沙埕镇下辖的社区，坐落在沙埕港边，与浙江省苍南县沿浦镇沙岭村为邻。博雅地名网说此处原是潮水退去后露出的浅海滩涂，可供养殖，因而称“埕”。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1970年3月，集镇上成立了沙埕街道大队。1983年，此地并入沙埕区所辖的镇；至1988年5月，才定名为沙埕街居民委员会。[1]

人口与产业[edit]

据博雅地名网，全街居民共1164户、3519人。居民多从事个体经营和海水养殖，全街拥有林地350亩。[1]

荣誉[edit]

社区曾获闽浙毗邻地区第一联防区授予的护林联防先进单位称号。2012年度，社区获评「福鼎市人口和计生（村）居民自治先进单位」。[1]
