山前街道位于福鼎市区东侧，属城乡结合部，西面紧邻桐山溪，北接贯岭镇，南接前岐镇。[4]1998年10月，桐城、桐山两个镇被取消，改为桐山、桐城、山前三个街道，山前街道即由此设立。[2][7]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年设山前乡。[5]1998年10月，山前街道办事处成立，由桐山、桐城两镇划出的11个村（居）组成，此前这些地方分属桐山镇和桐城镇管辖。[4][5]

街道的名字源于地理位置，地处阮家尖山之前。[3]2022年3月，街道被命名为「2021年福鼎市平安乡镇（街道）」。[3]

地理环境[edit]

街道东靠烟墩山，西临桐山溪。福宁高速公路、国道104线与省道沙吕线贯穿全境，罾坪、灰窑两地各有一座码头。[4]

人口[edit]

2025年末，街道有户籍户数11923户，户籍人口40599人，户籍人口密度为每平方千米1210.4人。[1]

经济[edit]

主要农副产品有水稻、茶叶、水果、水产品和蔬菜，境内已建成闽浙边界蔬菜贸易基地。[4]

福鼎槟榔芋原产于山前，俗称「山前竽」。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

福鼎革命烈士陵园位于城东阮家尖山上，依山傍水，座西朝东。陵园于1986年12月开始筹建，1991年10月建成，占地约36亩。[6]
