村庄建在甘棠洋的一块空坪上，因此得名。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年时该地仍属南塘乡。1958年设立甘坪渔业大队；1984年改名甘坪，大队同时改为甘坪村，并推选出村民委员会。[2]
