港边村是甘棠镇下辖的行政村，紧邻镇区，村西旧称西塘，甘下公路穿村而过。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村庄位于西塘港边，因此得名。[1]

概况[edit]

据博雅地名网概况，村子距镇政府约1.3公里，距福安市区30公里，南距沈海高速下白石互通13公里。村内下辖1个自然村，设5个村民小组，村民291户、950人（年份未载），山地1380亩，森林覆盖率53.18%。主要产业是种植茶树、葡萄和柑桔。[2] 博雅地名网称该村为中国海峡大茶都驻地。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年时归甘棠区南塘乡；1958年归入上塘大队的范围，1979年才另立大队，1984年改设为港边村。[3]

荣誉[edit]

村子曾获甘棠镇2006年度和2019年度重点项目工作先进集体称号。[2] 本村于2024年1月获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
