瓜溪村1958年起为瓜溪大队，1984年更名瓜溪村委会，此名延续至今。村内有瓜溪桫椤省级自然保护区，桫椤被称为“活化石”。瓜溪是溪潭五个老区基点村之一。[1][2][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

瓜溪桫椤省级自然保护区设立于1999年，占地1438.3公顷，跨溪潭镇与甘棠镇，主要保护国家重点保护植物桫椤。桫椤茎干高直，叶片羽状分裂，是现存蕨类植物中体型最大的一类。其祖先曾与恐龙同处一个时代，因此被称作“活化石”。[3][4]
