廉村在溪潭镇西南，穆阳溪西岸，距镇区约2公里，原名石矶津。唐肃宗因唐代“开闽第一进士”薛令之为官清廉，敕封其所居村庄为“廉村”。村中古建筑众多，被评为中国历史文化名村和第一批中国传统村落。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
南朝梁年间，光禄大夫薛贺在512年遭左迁，入闽后几经辗转，落脚石矶津并建村。[3]
薛令之生于唐永淳二年（683年），字君珍，号明月先生。他于唐神龙二年（706年）北上长安应试及第，开元年间任左补阙，并与贺知章同为太子李亨的侍讲。因在诗中借屈轶草讽刺奸佞，又在东宫墙上题《自悼》，他遭到李林甫排挤，此后辞官回乡，隐居灵谷草堂。[4]
唐肃宗敕封村庄为“廉村”，所在溪水名为“廉溪”。按福安市文体和旅游局的介绍，此村在历史上仅此一处由皇帝以“廉”字命名。[1]
宋代，朱松曾到村中瞻仰薛令之故居，朱熹在村中讲学，其弟子陈经后来著有《书解》五十卷等书。[5]
唐宋两代，村里考中进士者达33人，人称“进士村”。明清之际，村子是交通要冲，也是物资集散之地。革命战争时期，它是闽东革命根据地的基点村之一。[1]

村里的城堡、官道、码头、祠堂与民居仍有遗存，此外还有木雕、石雕、字画和一批民俗文物。[1]
