牛山湾村位于社口镇，村西侧山腰有建于1962年的牛山湾红旗渠。[1]

地名由来[edit]

相传清乾隆八年，雷姓先祖迁居到此，村民白天放牛、夜宿山湾，村名由此而来。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

牛山湾红旗渠建于1962年，位于村西一公里的山腰（俗称寨门处），从东往西全长两公里左右，属近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年此地属穆阳乡，称牛山湾村；1953年划归社口区；1958年设大公社，属前山管理区，称牛山湾大队。1980年分出单独设立牛山湾大队，1984年改称牛山湾村。[1]
