地名由来[edit]
南岩村族谱记载，先祖少招公自上白石镇佳浆迁来此地，因位于佳浆之南，取名南岩[1]。
古民居与风貌[edit]
村庄四周山峦起伏，形成一个内陆小盆地。古民居多为明清时期建筑，分为两个古民居群，现存古井、古牌匾、石门、木雕和窗花等物件[2]。福安市政府网站介绍称，村中保留42座明清及民国时期的老厝，形成群落，具有学术研讨和旅游开发价值；当地也称之为「闽东明清建筑博物馆」[3]。
革命历史[edit]
革命时期，南岩村曾是苏维埃区政府的所在地之一，当时称上东区[2]。该村是福安市的老区基点村[1]。
荣誉与沿革[edit]
2014年11月，南岩村列入「第三批中国传统村落」名录[1]。2017年9月，南岩村入选住建部公布的「2017年改善农村人居环境示范村」名单[1]。2021年11月，村里获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；同年12月，南岩村被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」[1]。2022年11月，南岩村列入「2022年福建省金牌旅游村」名单[1]。
1950年隶属第九区东岭乡，1958年设大队，归上白石公社领导，1969年改由潭头公社管辖，1984年大队改设为村委会，沿用至今[1]。
