莲池社区位于福安市城南街道，地处市中心，曾是宁德地区行署所在地。社区内既有机关，也有商贸、住宅和服务设施，面积约0.5平方千米。[1]

社区名称得自旧时两口相连的水池，两池兼作消防之用。[1]

村落始建于宋淳佑五年；2003年设立莲池社区居委会。[1]
