历史沿革[edit]
民国二十四年至二十八年（1935至1939年）间设有英窦坑乡。乡名原作英窦坑，据当地说法，村南住姓英的人家，村北住姓窦的人家，中间隔着一条坑，故得此名；后为书写方便改称英山。此前又曾名叶沙坑。[3][4]
1934年，英山、何家山、半岭等村先后设立苏维埃政府，田头洋村曾为区苏维埃政府驻地，石古兰村当时称石鼓兰村，也设过苏维埃政府。[5][7][8][6][9]
1965年2月撤区并社，设英山公社，下辖9个大队。1970年7月柘荣县建制撤销，英山公社划归福安县；1975年3月复县，英山公社仍归柘荣。1984年10月政社分开，英山公社改为英山乡。[2][3]
1972年英山公社增设田头洋大队，1980年又增设冈后坪、桦岭、岭头、上宅4个大队。[2]
2014年9月，英山乡入选「2012年—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」名单；2020年6月，入选省级乡村治理示范乡镇名单。「2022年福建省卫生乡镇」称号于2022年12月授予英山乡，授予单位为福建省爱国卫生运动委员会。[3][4]
地理环境[edit]
英山乡北与浙江省泰顺县交界，南与福安市毗邻，东侧以龙溪与城郊乡为界，西侧与福安市上白石镇、范坑乡相邻。[1][3]
乡内地势起伏，山地居多。最高处为见炉峰，海拔1078米；最低处在下清水坑，海拔78.8米。[1]
全乡属高山小气候，年平均气温14.8℃，年降雨量约2200毫米，云雾较多。[1]
境内溪流归入交溪水系，龙溪、石鼓岚溪和慕凌溪是其中的主要支流。[3]
人口民族[edit]
柘荣县人民政府网站称，英山乡现有2260户、7242人，网站未注明统计口径，发布于2026年3月。[1] 第七次全国人口普查结果显示，2020年全乡常住人口为2023人。[3]
2011年末，全乡人口中有畲族36人。[3]
经济[edit]
柘荣县人民政府网站称英山为太子参种苗之乡，也称英山为高山白茶之乡，茶园中有「石古兰」「南岭仙岩」等品牌。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
田头洋村保存有多座古建筑：马仙宫建于道光二十一年（1841年），大帝宫建于嘉庆二十五年（1820年），叶氏祠堂建于同治七年（1868年）。[6]
石古兰村的中当山一带属老区基点，柘鼎泰临时县委也曾驻在那里。[9]
