1980年设立山竹坑大队；1984年大队撤销，改设山竹坑村村民委员会。[1]

村辖4个自然村。全村65户、223人，其中外出者150人，留在村中的有73人。[1]

村民收入以太子参、茶叶和外出务工为主。[1]
