村子位于一条小坑的源头，故名坑源底。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年设大队，1967年并入团结大队；1980年重新分立，1984年起为村委会建制。[1]

2021年4月，本村获评「2020年度福建省乡村振兴实绩突出村」。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村内原辖坑源底、菁岭两个自然村，1989年菁岭撤销，村内如今只剩坑源底一个自然村。[1]
