七步村是七步镇镇政府所在的行政村，村委会驻七步自然村。村域内的东花园是一个畲族村。[1]

地名[edit]

村名原为「桥头」，村头原有一座廊桥，故以此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，村域属宁德县青田乡东洋里十五都，后归周墩特种区和周墩分县。1945年周宁设县，村域归入周宁，同时设蒲溪乡，乡公所即驻于此。[1]

1949年隶属周宁县第四区，1956年划入李墩区。公社化后设立大队，1959年归属七步公社，1984年起改用七步村委会的名称。[1]

村域此前包括五个自然村：七步、傅厝底、东花园、牛埕下、后岭。其中牛埕下与后岭的居民在20世纪80年代迁居七步主村，村域于是只剩三个自然村。[2]

2024年6月，本村列入「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
