西山村位于下党乡东部，村子的西侧与下党村相接，东侧挨着下屏峰村，总面积为7.5平方千米。[1]

村名的来历有两说：一说为早年吴姓定居于西侧，称吴西山，后简为今名；另一说是村子位于溪涧之西。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国二十五年（1936年），村子属下党联保。1950年9月属平溪区屏峰乡。[1]

1965年7月，设平溪公社西山大队；1984年大队改为村委会。[1]

1988年元月，西山村随下党乡的设立划入下党乡。[1][2]

2021年11月，获得2021年福建省卫生村的称号；同年12月，又获得2021年度福建省森林村庄称号。2025年11月，村子以地瓜扣入选福建省省级「一村一品」专业村（2025年度）。[1]

经济[edit]

村民主要靠茶叶、锥栗和外出打工增收，外出者多做超市一类的生意。[1]
