历史沿革[edit]
此地旧称党川，取溪水川流不息之意。下党村的名字则来自其地势低于上党村，以及乡政府设在该村。[1]
1988年元月，寿宁县从平溪乡划出碑坑、上党、下党、杨溪头、西山五个行政村，又从芹洋乡划入下屏峰村，并划入托溪乡的一部分自然村，组建下党乡。[4][2]
建乡之前，下党村一带没有公路，也没有自来水和电力。[6]
1989年7月，时任宁德地委书记的习近平到下党乡调研；同年7月下旬和1996年8月，他又先后两次到下党，协调解决当地的发展难题。[1]
2019年8月，习近平给下党乡回信，祝贺该乡实现脱贫。[1]
据寿宁县人民政府网站，下党乡党委获得「全国脱贫攻坚楷模」称号；该乡还在中国共产党与世界政党领导人峰会上，以五处分会场之一的身份对外展示。[5]
2021年5月，乡里入选「2022年度福建省乡村振兴示范乡镇」创建名单；同年9月，被认定为「第二批全国乡村治理示范乡镇」；同年12月，又被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」。[3]
2023年12月，被命名为「2023年度福建省森林乡镇」；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」；2025年3月，获得「第七届全国文明村镇」称号，并被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范乡镇」。[3]
地理环境[edit]
气候类型为中亚热带山地，气温年均16.9℃，降雨年均约1514毫米。境内海拔在300米至1045米之间，乡政府所在地海拔410米。[3]
乡的面积有两种说法：百度百科载为64.97平方千米，博雅地名网则写作约70平方千米。[1][3]
人口民族[edit]
2018年末，全乡户籍人口为7084人。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
鸾峰桥位于下党村南，是一座木拱廊桥。该桥始建于明代中期，清嘉庆五年（1800年）正月重建，1964年又经修缮。[7]
2006年，鸾峰桥被公布为全国重点文物保护单位。桥身全长47.6米，宽4.9米；其跨度，百度百科写作拱跨37.2米，博雅地名网写作孔跨37.6米。[7][8]
难忘下党红色旅游景区以下党村为核心，境内生态良好，古民居、古村落和古廊桥保存较完整。该景区被评为国家3A级旅游景区。[5]
