际头村在托溪乡东部，共有三个自然村：上牛楼、下牛楼与法岭，居民以夏姓为主[1][2]。村名取义于村前石壁陡峭、村庄位于崖上的地势[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据际头夏氏宗谱所载，宋末元初，始祖夏宁五自浙江泰顺县苔冈迁居于此，至今已有八百余年[1]。

1950年11月，村属第四区托溪区的际头乡[1]。1956年芹洋区设立后，际头归托溪乡；1959年改为托溪公社际头大队，1963年再次划入芹洋区，1965年撤区并社，重归托溪公社。1984年撤社改乡，设际头村委会[1]。

人文[edit]

历史上际头出过状元、进士；清末一家兄弟五人同中武秀才，时称「五武之家」[1]。夏氏宗祠内存有官府所赠的「文元」「武魁」牌匾[1]。

夏氏宗祠2018年由公益组织会长牵头集资重修，2019年中秋落成[2]。

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，际头村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[2]。
