山头村位于乡境东北，海拔839米，离乡政府驻地芹洋村10公里，是乡内海拔最高的建制村。全村280户，1300人，村下有8个自然村：乾山、黄瑶、亭下、梅积坑、金钟洋、单竹洋，以及山头、山头洋。[1]

地名由来[edit]

旧时此地林木茂密，地势高于广地村。原名“山头林”，为与“山头洋”相区别，改称“山头仔”，解放后又简称山头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清乾隆中期，叶家修一支迁入此地。新中国成立初属九岭乡的山头保，1959年撤区并社后归芹洋公社山头大队；1984年撤社建乡后，改设芹洋乡山头村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

本村获得2023年福建省卫生村称号，命名时间为2024年1月。[1]
