小东村位于坑底乡的东南一角，平均海拔789米，距县城约22千米[1][2]。全村辖6个自然村、10个村民小组[2]。村中的小东寺是县级文物保护单位[3]，村内另有三座木拱桥[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

村名最初写作「秀东」，取义于村中民居坐东朝西、依傍旗山排列的景象。方言中「秀」与「小」读音接近，此名后来渐渐被叫成了「小东」[2]。

地理环境[edit]

村子坐落在高山地带，几条溪水在此汇成一股。村址距坑底2千米，距省级风景区杨梅州13千米，距县城22千米[1][2]。这里是寿宁、庆元、景宁、泰顺四地的交接处，到泰顺县城约40千米[2]。

经济[edit]

全村有413户1663人，耕地1428亩，多种水稻；园地433.1亩，主要出产御豆、茶叶和四季豆；林地14146.8亩，以杉木、松木、毛竹为主[2]。

名胜古迹[edit]

小东寺原名兴福寺，宋淳化二年（991年）已有寺宇，明正统二年（1437年）重新修建，现存的建筑多为民国时期的样式[3]。2005年，它被定为县级文物保护单位[3]。寺内存有明弘治十三年（1500年）的佛座石刻，以及清顺治七年（1650年）的重兴寺碑[2]。

村中另有三座木拱桥：小东大宝桥为省级文物保护单位，小东上桥（清嘉庆六年，1801年建）与小东单桥（民国二十八年，1939年建）为县级文物保护单位[2]。
