地名由来[edit]
村名经过三次变更：最早因村中有榅木，称榅洋头；后因山形似牛、石坡留有牛脚印，又有范氏先祖建牛栏时母牛产犊的传说，改称牛栏头；解放后因村内有湖泊，定名湖潭。[5][6]
历史沿革[edit]
明朝弘治年间（1488至1505年），范氏始祖迁居于此。[4]
新中国成立前，村属平溪乡湖潭保；1950年为第三区（平溪区）的湖潭乡。1959年村归平溪公社，编为湖潭大队；1984年公社改乡，大队改为湖潭村委会，2013年底乡改为镇，村委会名称延续。[4]
经济[edit]
农作物以水稻、茶叶为主，山间多产毛竹。集体经济在2021年突破20.03万元。[3]

村内以范、阮、叶、李、陈姓为主。[3]
